Although Kevin Beattie was never on the books at Cambridge United, it was a very pleasant surprise to be guests at CUFC when they entertained Ipswich Town in a pre-season friendly at the Abbey Stadium.

I cannot thank the personnel enough especially Wendy Glancy for the way my partner and I were looked after for the day.

The club even took time out to do a full page feature in the match day programme which was a nice touch and after the game Wendy told the team about the walk and all the players came out to wish me well on my challenge.

Despite the hospitality being cancelled, Cambridge United still allowed my partner and I to enjoy the benefits at the Premier Travel Club hospitality suite. It was nice to grab a beer and sit down to read the match day programme. When kick off approached we were shown to our seats behind the dugouts and we had a great view. Sadly the game ended nil nil.

After the players met us we then had another surprise by given a tour of the ground and had pictures on the pitch, dugouts, players tunnel and dressing room.

What can I say other than THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN CAMBRIDGE UNITED FC.

I wish you well for the forthcoming season and I will be at Colchester United and Plymouth away to cheer you on and hopefully take in more home games!!
